Winter Season 2025-2026

We are a family-owned and run mountain lodge, deep in the Joetsu National Park, right by Tanigawadake Joch/Mt. T Ski Resort (formerly Tenjindaira) and as little as two hours from Tokyo.

It’s early December and the lodge is snowbound already, Winter is here!
Contact us for backcountry guiding, ski and snowboard lessons, Rentals, Discounted ski passes and snowshoe tours.
The never ending sauna project is finished but waiting to be evaluated by the fire department on Dec 20… Fingers crossed.
Daily pickups from Doai station and we meet the train arriving at Minakami station at 3;45pm
Hot showers and baths are operational in our ensuite bathrooms and a new onsen has opened within walking distance of the lodge

Special points to note this Winter:

Mt. T. is back to 7 days a week operation!
Guests of Tenjin Lodge and Tenjin Guides backcountry tours, are not required to book Mt.T lift passes in advance for which we’re very grateful!
Mt. T is now part of the Ikon ski pass program and looks like an Ikon pass will be for sale here at Tenjin Lodge.
We have discounted lift passes at Okutone Snowpark and Hodaigi Ski Resort.

In Minakami and Tenjin Lodge

During the Winter, Tenjin Lodge is one of the snowiest places you can choose. The base of snow in the backyard during the previous season, reached over 3.5m with a 7m base recorded at Mt.T. The local snowshoe trekking course starts literally at our front door. We offer daily shuttles to Mt. T and Okutone Snowpark. We sometimes shuttle to Hodaigi Ski Resort depending on conditions.

We Like To Party

The wifi is legit and when it’s quiet on weekdays, the owners let me use an additional room to work in. There are worse ways to grind out a pandemic than with a beautiful river right beneath you and plenty of fresh air
